What documents do I need to collect to buy and sell a car between individuals? Pay close attention to these because an error can be detrimental for the seller …

To sell a used car to another private individual, you must collect these documents:

The declaration of assignment (CERFA 15776 * 01 ) that the buyer also has on his side in duplicate
The certificate of non-pledge called for several years certificate of administrative situation

Vehicle registration certificate / registration certificate

The seller must give the buyer the crossed-out gray card, mentioning ” Sold on [date] to [buyer’s first and last name] ” followed by the seller’s signature (the mileage of the vehicle must also be mentioned). The validity of a crossed-out gray card is only 1 month . For new vehicle registration certificates (called registration certificates) you will have to fill in (the seller) the back where certain information is to be specified. The lower part (detachable coupon) can be withdrawn but it will only be used by the buyer when he goes to the prefecture: he will give the top and keep the small coupon to circulate (in case of control).
